With over 25 years’ experience researching population dynamics and creating strategic, data-informed initiatives for international development, I have developed deep expertise in a broad spectrum of demographic issues. I have worked until July 2020 as the Director of Program Management for the Demographic and Health Survey Program (DHS). I managed multi-donor projects for several countries ‘surveys. I also developed innovative approaches and instruments to strengthen sustainable development, including tailoring the DHS Program to include relevant women, maternal, newborn and child health, and men’s health metrics to monitor national policies and programs aimed to improving people’s health and wellbeing. I also track overall impacts of climate change on population dynamics and emergency response capabilities. I have been recognized for excellence in my field with awards, including the IUSSP Laureate Award (2017). In addition, I serve as a board member for HelpAge International, an organization that seeks to protect the rights of the elderly and alleviate poverty among the older people.
