Namrata Ray is a Postdoctoral Researcher affiliated with the Population Aging Research Center at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a recent Ph.D. graduate in Sociology from Washington State University where she specialized in the areas of social stratification, quantitative research methods, and educational inequality. Her dissertation delves into an empirical examination of the complex relationship between social class, cultural capital, and education in a cross-national context. Namrata’s past research has focused on aging and subjective well-being of the elderly in India using WHO-SAGE data and poverty and occupational mobility using panel data from the India Human Development Survey (IHDS). Before entering her doctoral program, she received her BS in Economics from Presidency College and MS in Demography from the International Institute for Population Sciences in India.
