Speaker Biographies: 

Marc A. Garcia is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Maxwell School of Citizenship & Public Affairs at Syracuse University. After receiving his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Texas-Austin in 2015, he completed an NIA Postdoctoral Fellowship in Minority Health & Aging at the University of Texas-Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. His research centers broadly on health disparities across the life course. Specifically, he is interested in how race/ethnicity, nativity, gender, and socioeconomic factors shape physical health, cognitive functioning, and mortality outcomes of aging minority and immigrant groups in the United States.
